Living the Dream Published
November 21, 2007
Well,
it was way back in February when I posted, The Journey Begins, when Randi and Tony first stated taking action on their dream to sell their condo and buy a single family home. In a more balanced market their decision might easily be accomplished within a few months and there would
be little doubt it would happen. In today’s market Randi and
Tony had to work very hard and maintain a level of patience that most sellers don’t have and even then there were times
when we thought they might have to abandon the dream and stay with the condo. Finally,
the hard work and patience paid off with a successful sale in August. This immediately
sent Randi and Tony out looking more seriously. We had been looking all along
but when you actually have your house in contract and know you can make an offer it becomes a bit more fun. We looked at the ones we h ad seen before and then more on a lark, looked at some new construction. To make a
very long story short Randi and Tony fell in love with some new Centex homes in an area of Yuba City they like. The development is called Teal Hollow, is located off of Highway 20 and has some wonderful view of the Buttes. The
folks at Centex were friendly and wanted to sell so getting the upgrades and extras was not a problem. In addition since they were buying a home that had not been completed, Randi and Tony were able to select
many of the finishes they wanted. The entire experience with Centex was positive
and as of last week Randi and Tony are living their dream. This first
attempt at a reality real estate series was fun but much more difficult than I originally imagined and towards the end, I
lost momentum to carry through as I had planned. The fact that in today’s
market transactions, especially selling and buying can take months and with Randi and Tony it took from February to November. There were long stretches of time where we didn’t have much going on so it was
difficult to maintain much excitement. Not only were Randi and Tony on my top
2 or 3 best sellers I have ever worked with but I very much appreciate their willingness to let me chronicle their journey
in buying and selling. In addition I want to thank those of you faithfully followed
the story and your comments and suggestions which, in most cases, were very insightful. Here is list
of MyForSaleSign links: MyForSaleSign site (links to all articles can be found here) The future
of MyForSaleSign – Since I have had so much positive feedback from the Randi & Tony series, I would like to maintain
the site and for now continue to write about real life transactions as they happen.
As some of you may know I started to write about our own experience in selling a rental property my husband and I own
in Anchorage, Alaska. I will continue with that until I can find another client
willing to share their buying or selling experience on the internet. If you or
someone you know is considering buying or selling and would be interested in participating with MyForSaleSign, please let
me know. We are planning on expanding into podcasting and video for the next
series! Stay tuned.
