Hanging in There

The My For Sale Sign articles are part of Sacramento real estate agent and Roseville Realtor, Julie Jalone’s reality real estate feature where she chronicles the actual events of a current real estate transaction.  In this initial series we are following Randi & Tony as they sell their Yuba City condo-town home and seek a larger house.

The days are going by with no calls from agents saying they have a client who wants to look at our home and the realization begins to set in, in today’s real estate market, for sellers, this is an endurance race, not a sprint.  How is our young Yuba City couple holding up in a world of instant gratification as they attempt to sell their condo/town home and buy a larger house?

So far the process has been both exciting and a little frustrating. Tony and I are constantly anticipating someone coming over to see the house and hoping they like all of the changes we've made and worked soooo hard on.

We've noticed we are staying up slightly later or are running late in the morning making sure the house is spotless (it would be great if we were always so tidy!). I guess it’s the constant anticipation of a showing that keeps us motivated. Julie and Mike have been awesome with motivating and helping us as well as our friends and family helping us get everything put together. Even though we haven't had any other showings, we still have high hopes of selling and have prepared ourselves to be patient if it takes a while.

Having a house on the market is more than a month or two of work to get it ready for the market.  It is work every day to keep the home in show condition and it is much easier to write about than do.  Randi & Tony are doing a nice job of but as you can see from reading Randi’s quote it has changed their lifestyle and over time it becomes frustrating when you are not getting the showing and offers you are waiting for.

Over the past week we have updated some of the photos on the Sutter-Yuba MLS, lowered the asking price to $257,000.  The initial interest we had from our Open House on February 17th has not resulted in any offers of additional conversation so we will be planning another one soon.  This week I have asked Michael to prepare a multi-media slide show presentation to post on your website listing.  This home has so much more to offer than you would normally expect from a condominium so I want as many potential buyers to see it as possible.
